About Me

A certified civil trial specialist, Paul Sortland practices civil litigation with a focus on significant business lawsuits, medical malpractice, and legal malpractice as a sole practitioner in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Representing both companies and individual clients, he has handled cases involving a wide range of civil issues, including antitrust, construction disputes, and major commercial lawsuits. Paul Sortland is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of North Dakota and Minnesota, along with the United States Supreme Court and Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Possessing more than two decades of experience, Paul Sortland has received several recognitions throughout his career. He is rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell and was named a Super Lawyer by Minnesota Law and Politics. Additionally, he belongs to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, to which he was admitted in recognition of a $2.8 million verdict in 1996. An active member of the professional community, he belongs to the Minnesota Association for Justice and the State Bar Association of North Dakota, along with several other professional organizations. Mr. Sortland graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in history from Saint Olaf College and received his juris doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School.
